Yes. SpareSpot is a platform founded and developed in Switzerland, built for individuals who want to rent out or find a storage or parking space across Switzerland. Transactions happen directly between private individuals, in Swiss francs, with no intermediary.
How does SpareSpot work?
SpareSpot is a marketplace where owners rent out spare spaces (offices, workshops, music studios, sport halls, event spaces…) to people who need a space. Browse spaces on the map, contact an owner, agree on terms, and confirm your booking — all through the platform.
How do I rent a space?
Search the map for a space in your area. Click a listing to see details, then click "Request this space" to start a conversation with the owner. Once the owner approves and you send payment, the booking is confirmed.
How does the booking process work?
There are four steps: (1) you send a booking request; (2) the host reviews and pre-approves the terms; (3) you send payment directly to the host; (4) the host confirms receipt and the booking is finalised. You can download a proof of agreement at any point.
How does payment work?
Payment is handled directly between you and the owner — typically by bank transfer. SpareSpot does not process or hold any payments. Always agree on the payment method with the owner before transferring money.
Is there a rental contract?
No, SpareSpot does not provide a rental contract. Once a booking is confirmed, you can download a Proof of Agreement PDF from the conversation thread. This document records the space details, both parties, agreed price, and booking dates. Under Swiss law, a written agreement between private individuals may carry evidentiary value (CO Art. 11), but SpareSpot makes no guarantee as to its legal validity or enforceability. We recommend consulting a legal professional for any rental involving significant amounts.
Can I cancel a booking?
Either party can request a cancellation. The other party must accept for the cancellation to take effect — this is a mutual process. Both parties are notified by email at each step. Once confirmed, the booking status changes to Cancelled.
Which cities is SpareSpot available in?
SpareSpot is available across Switzerland, with the highest concentration of listings in French-speaking Switzerland: Geneva, Lausanne, Fribourg, Neuchâtel, Sion, Vevey, Morges, Yverdon-les-Bains and Nyon. Listings also exist in German-speaking Switzerland (Zurich, Bern, Basel) and Ticino.
How do I access the space after confirmation?
Access details (key, badge, hours) are agreed directly between you and the owner via messaging. SpareSpot does not manage physical access.
Is there a minimum rental period?
The minimum duration depends on each listing — some owners offer daily rentals, others monthly. Check the listing details or ask the owner directly.
What should I do if there is a problem with the owner?
SpareSpot is a matchmaking platform between private individuals and does not intervene in disputes between users. In case of a disagreement, the parties must resolve it directly between themselves. SpareSpot provides no guarantees and no legal or financial support. For a dispute, consult a lawyer or a cantonal mediation service.
